Heavy Parcel Index: what it costs to send gym weights in the UK

Gym weights are the awkward end of parcel delivery: dense, heavy and often shipped in more than one box. This page sets out what it costs to have them delivered from Lift Sets to Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands, using the bands we actually charge at checkout. There are no estimates and no third-party figures: every number is from our own rate card.

1. Great Britain: standard delivery is free at every weight

Standard delivery is free to every address in Great Britain, including the Scottish Highlands and Islands, on every order, with no minimum spend. Order by 2pm Monday to Friday for same-working-day dispatch; standard delivery takes 2 to 5 working days after dispatch.

Express delivery (1 to 2 working days after dispatch) is available to Great Britain only, priced by total order weight. In every table on this page a band means over the previous limit, up to the weight shown.

To NI, IoM and CI they are charged £15 up to 30 kg, then £5 for every further 10 kg, to £110 at 220 kg. Within Great Britain, standard delivery on them is free.

5. Worked examples

Read the tables with the weight of your order. A 20 kg pair is two 20 kg dumbbells, so it counts as 40 kg.

  • A 20 kg hex dumbbell pair (40 kg order weight): GB standard free; GB express, the 27.5 to 55 kg band; NI, IoM or CI, the 25 to 50 kg boxed band.
  • Two pairs, 10 kg and 15 kg (50 kg order weight): GB standard free; express, the 27.5 to 55 kg band; NI, IoM or CI, the 25 to 50 kg band, since 50 kg sits on the band limit.
  • A 100 kg boxed order, for example five 10 kg pairs: GB standard free; express, the 82.5 to 110 kg band; NI, IoM or CI, the 75 to 100 kg band.
  • A 24 kg cast iron kettlebell (heavy single box): GB standard free; NI, IoM or CI, the up-to-30 kg heavy box band.
  • A power rack (bulky): GB standard free; NI, IoM or CI, the bulky rate.

The checkout works out the order weight and applies the band for you, and shows the charge before you pay.

6. Why heavy parcels cost more to send

Couriers price a parcel on weight, size and handling, and gym weights push all three. A heavy, dense box needs more careful handling at every step and stronger packaging to arrive intact. Above the parcel network's size and weight limits an item travels as freight instead, on a different and dearer service. Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands add a sea crossing. Our bands are how we pass these costs on: free where we absorb them, by weight where we cannot.

7. Methodology and last-checked date

The bands on this page are our own checkout delivery rates: no courier list prices, no competitor figures, no estimates. Every band is in pounds sterling including VAT, and the checkout always shows the delivery charge before you pay. Last checked against the live rates on 18 September 2026. If the checkout ever shows a different figure, the checkout is correct and this page needs updating; please tell us.

8. Questions

Is standard delivery really free on a 60 kg pair to the Scottish Highlands?

Yes. Standard delivery is free to every address in Great Britain, including the Scottish Highlands and Islands, at any weight and with no minimum spend.

Is the band worked out per item or for the whole order?

For boxed items, the checkout adds up the weight of everything in your basket and applies the band for the total, so two 10 kg boxed items, 20 kg together, fall in the first band. Heavy single boxes and bulky items use their own tables above.

Can I get express delivery to Northern Ireland?

No. Express delivery is available to addresses in Great Britain only. Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands receive standard delivery, charged by weight.

What if I need to return a heavy item?

You have 180 days to return an unused item in its original packaging, with no restocking fee. You pay the return postage unless the item is faulty; your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are unaffected. Contact us first for a Return Authorisation Number and the return address; our registered office is not a returns address.
