Your rights
Warranty
Everything we sell is covered by your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Those rights sit alongside our 180-day returns for unused items, not instead of them.
Delivery
What if my item is faulty or arrives damaged?
Tell us as soon as you can, with photos or video and your order number. We arrange a free replacement or a full refund, depending on your preference. This does not affect your statutory rights.
What are my rights if a fault appears months after delivery?
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 you have up to 30 days from delivery to reject faulty goods for a full refund; up to 6 months a fault is presumed to have been present at delivery and you are entitled to a repair or replacement, then a refund or price reduction if that fails; and up to 6 years (5 in Scotland) you can still claim for a fault present at delivery, though after 6 months you may be asked to show it was.
Returns and refunds
Is there a warranty?
Can I return an item I have already assembled?
Items need to be unused and unassembled, in their original packaging with all parts, to qualify for a change-of-mind return. If an assembled item turns out to be faulty, that is covered separately under your Consumer Rights Act 2015 rights: contact us with photos and we arrange a repair, replacement or refund.
Do you offer a lifetime warranty on dumbbells or plates?
No. There is no lifetime or extended warranty unless a product page or policy states one. Everything is covered by your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, and free weights are guaranteed against casting defects, coating that lifts or cracks without impact and handles coming loose, with manufacturer terms confirmed on request.
How do I make a warranty claim?
Email support@liftsets.co.uk with your order number, a description of the fault and two or three photos or a short video; we will come back to you with the next step, which may be a replacement part, a repair, a replacement or a refund. Damage or shortages on arrival are a delivery claim and should be reported as soon as you can.
Does the warranty cover rust?
Not rust caused by wet or outdoor storage, which is listed as an exclusion for free weights, racks, benches and storage. Coating that lifts or cracks without impact is covered, and a fault that was present at delivery is always covered under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 whatever the exclusions say.
Does the warranty cover use in a commercial gym?
Consumer warranty terms on the site cover normal domestic use; use in a commercial setting is excluded for free weights and machines unless it was quoted. Business customers get the warranty term for their order stated on the trade quote, and manufacturer terms for commercial use are confirmed on request before you order.
Is there a warranty on cardio machines?
Cardio and gym machines are guaranteed by LIFT SETS LTD for frame and structural parts, motors, consoles and electronics, cables, pulleys and moving parts under normal domestic use, with the manufacturer term confirmed in writing on request. Wear items such as belts, grips and batteries, incorrect assembly or power supply, and commercial use unless quoted are excluded; your Consumer Rights Act 2015 rights apply in full either way.
What does the warranty cover on racks and benches?
Frame welds and structural steel, adjustment pins and catches, upholstery seams and feet under normal use within any load rating stated on the product page, with manufacturer terms confirmed on request. Loading above any rating stated on the product page, torn upholstery from sharp objects, damage from moving an assembled unit and rust from wet storage are excluded; statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are unaffected.
What does "confirmed on request" mean on the warranty page?
It means the manufacturer's written warranty term for that category has not been published on the site yet. Ask before you order and we confirm it in writing; whatever the term, your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 apply in full and are not reduced by any manufacturer warranty.
Assembly and use
How do I stop dumbbells and plates rusting?
Wipe handles after each session to limit sweat corrosion, store weights on a rack rather than the floor, and keep them out of wet or outdoor storage; rust from wet storage is a warranty exclusion. Hex dumbbell handles are chrome-plated and tri-grip plates are rubber-coated precisely to resist corrosion in a damp garage.
Can I drop weights at home?
Only bumper plates are made to be dropped, and even then repeated dropping transmits force, so put rubber matting or interlocking tiles in the drop zone, especially on concrete or a suspended floor. Cast iron and tri-grip plates and hex dumbbells should not be dropped from height; chips and scuffs from dropping are not covered by the warranty.
More questions
Can I get a replacement part?
Yes, where a part has failed. Report it through the warranty process with your order number, a description and photos, and we will come back to you with the next step, which can be a replacement part rather than a whole unit. Parts missing on arrival are a delivery claim and should be reported as soon as you can.
Can I keep gym equipment in a garage?
Yes, with two precautions: keep it dry, because rust from wet storage is not covered by the warranty, and put EVA tiles or rubber matting under the training area to protect the concrete and the equipment. Chrome-plated handles and rubber coatings are there to resist sweat and damp, not standing water.
Warranty by product category
On top of your statutory rights, this is what each category of product is guaranteed for. Where a term shows as confirmed on request, the manufacturer's written term has not yet been published here; your statutory rights apply in full either way.

Guarantor: LIFT SETS LTD, St. Helens, Merseyside. Nothing in this table affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Business customers: warranty terms for trade orders are stated on the quote.
Your statutory rights (Consumer Rights Act 2015)
Goods must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. If they are not:
- Up to 30 days from delivery: the short-term right to reject the goods for a full refund.
- Up to 6 months from delivery: a fault is presumed to have been present when the goods were delivered unless we can show otherwise. You are entitled to a repair or replacement; if that fails or cannot be done, a price reduction or a refund.
- Up to 6 years from delivery (5 years in Scotland): you can still make a claim for a fault that was present at delivery, though after the first 6 months you may be asked to show that it was.
These rights are given by law. They are not reduced by any manufacturer warranty, by our returns policy or by anything in these pages.
What these rights do and do not cover
Your statutory rights cover faults that were present when the goods were delivered, including manufacturing defects that only show up later. They do not cover fair wear and tear from normal training use, accidental damage, or damage caused by misuse, incorrect assembly, or loading beyond the maximum stated on the product page. If you are unsure whether a problem is covered, report it anyway and we will tell you.
Manufacturer warranties
Manufacturer and Lift Sets guarantees are listed by product category in the warranty table above. A category whose term reads "confirmed on request" has no published term yet: ask before you order and we confirm it in writing. No guarantee we give reduces your statutory rights.
How to report a fault
Email support@liftsets.co.uk, call +44 191 743 7100 or WhatsApp +44 7727 666 714 (Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm UK time) with your order number, what is wrong, and photos or a short video. Damaged on arrival? Tell us as soon as you can and keep all the packaging. We confirm the next step, whether that is a replacement, a repair or a refund, and issue a Return Authorisation Number if the item needs to come back to us. Returning a faulty or incorrect item costs you nothing.
Separate from our returns policy
Our 180-day returns for unused, unassembled items in their original packaging are a goodwill policy on top of your legal rights. Return postage on a change-of-mind return is your responsibility; on a faulty or incorrect item it is ours. See the refund policy for the full process.
