Description

If there is one piece of equipment worth getting right, it is this one. A well-chosen dumbbell set will still be in your gym in twenty years, and it will cover more of your programme than anything else you own. This is the hub for the entire Lift Sets dumbbell range, every format, every coating, every purchase option, so you can compare them properly before committing.

Choosing a format

  • Hex dumbbells: rubber-coated cast iron with anti-roll heads. The default choice for home and commercial floors, 1kg to 60kg.
  • Round dumbbells: the same anti-roll seating with softened edges, more comfortable against the body.
  • Adjustable dumbbells: one pair covering a wide range, for anyone short on floor space.
  • Neoprene and vinyl: light, colour-coded, soft-grip weights for studio, class and rehabilitation work.
  • Hex pairs: individual matched pairs for topping up a set you already own.

How much weight do you actually need?

More than you think at the light end, less than you think at the heavy end. Most people buy one very heavy pair for ego and then never use it, while leaving a two-tier gap in the middle of their working range. A better approach: identify the weight you can press for eight to ten clean repetitions today, then buy tight 2.5kg increments spanning from roughly half that to twice that. You will use every pair, and you will have somewhere to progress for a year or more.

Buy the storage at the same time

Dumbbells left on the floor get kicked, get damp and get damaged, and a loose rack of weights across a garage floor is a genuine trip hazard. Our dumbbell storage racks run from compact three-pair A3 frames up to the three-tier L3, which holds 11 pairs and 350kg. Rack bundles that include both are almost always cheaper than buying the two separately.

What to add next

An adjustable bench roughly doubles what a dumbbell set can do, incline press, chest-supported rows, step-ups, Bulgarian split squats. After that, gym flooring to protect the subfloor, and eventually a barbell and weight plates when you want to load heavier than dumbbells comfortably allow.

Every dumbbell we sell is imported direct and held in our Runcorn warehouse, so what the site says is in stock genuinely is. Browse the full range below, or use the collections above to narrow by format.
