Storage Racks
Rubber hex dumbbells are heavy, and a rack that cannot take the load is worse than no rack at all. These tiered and layered racks use angled saddles and a wide base so a full graded set sits securely and comes off the rack cleanly.
The angle of the saddle is what makes a hex rack work. Tilted tiers hold the dumbbell against gravity so it cannot roll forward, while presenting the handle at an angle that lets you grip and lift without dragging the head across the frame. A flat shelf, by contrast, requires you to lift straight up and gives no security if the bell is nudged.
Load capacity and tier spacing are the two specifications to check against your actual set. Hex head diameter grows substantially with weight, so a rack sized around 10kg heads will not accept 25kg bells on the same spacing. If you plan to extend your set upward over time, buy the rack for the set you intend to own rather than the one you have.
Beyond tidiness, a rack changes lifting mechanics for the better. Picking a 25kg dumbbell off the floor is a deadlift in itself, performed cold and often with poor position. Racked at mid-thigh, the same bell is retrieved with a short, upright movement, which is meaningfully safer and is exactly why every commercial gym racks its dumbbells rather than leaving them out.
Choose a tiered rack sized for your heaviest planned hex dumbbell pairs, not your current one. Choose a tree rack instead for light neoprene or vinyl sets, where the head geometry is different. If you own both fixed and adjustable dumbbells, note that selectorised bells need their own cradle stand rather than a saddle rack.
How many pairs will it hold?
This depends on the configuration and on your dumbbell head diameters. Check tier count and spacing on the page against your heaviest bells.
Can I put neoprene dumbbells on it?
You can, though a tree rack is a better fit for light neoprene sets. Hex racks are built around heavier, larger-diameter heads.
Does it need assembly?
Yes. Racks ship flat-packed. Tighten all fixings fully before loading, and re-check them after the first few weeks of use.
Is it stable with heavy dumbbells on the top tier?
Load heaviest pairs on the lowest tier. Top-heavy loading reduces stability on any tiered rack.

No, racks ship flat-packed and benches need assembly; the 9-Position Weight Bench, for example, is listed as assembling in under 10 minutes with minimal tools. Tighten all fixings fully before loading a rack and re-check them after the first few weeks of use.
Not for one or two pairs. From three pairs up, a tree rack keeps the heads off the floor and in order, and from 25 kg a pair upward a rack stops being optional. Buy the rack for the heaviest pair you will own in a year, because the saddles have to fit that head diameter.
Tree racks come as A3, A5, A6 and A10 and the tier count is the pair count; the L3 layer rack holds up to 12 pairs and is listed for 1 to 30 kg, so do not plan to park 35 to 60 kg bells on it. Heaviest pairs go on the bottom tier, and no load rating in kilograms is published, so treat the tier count as the limit.
Five: the A3 (3 tier), A5 (5 tier), A6 (6 tier) and A10 (10 tier) tree racks, and the L3 3-tier layer rack. Tier count on a tree is the pair count; the L3 is the layer rack that comes with the 12-pair set and is listed for 1 to 30 kg pairs.
No load rating is published. Treat the tier count as the limit, put the heaviest pairs on the bottom tier, and keep 35 kg pairs and up on the floor along a wall or on a rack that lists those weights.
The lowest tier. Top-heavy loading reduces stability on any tiered rack, and the angled saddles are designed to hold the head against gravity so a bell cannot roll forward when nudged.
Powder-coated steel with angled saddle tiers and a wide base; the black finish resists scratches. The L3 layer rack measures 129 cm long, 47 cm wide and 92 cm high; the tree rack dimensions are shown in the dimension image for each rack in the product gallery.
No. Selectorised adjustable dumbbells sit in trays and need a cradle stand, which is what the Adjustable Dumbbell Stand is for; hex racks are built around rubber hex heads. Light neoprene sets fit better on a neoprene tree rack.
Yes. Racks ship flat-packed; tighten every fixing fully before loading any dumbbells and re-check them after the first few weeks of use.
Picking a 25 kg dumbbell off the floor is a cold deadlift; racked at mid-thigh the same bell is retrieved with a short upright movement, which is safer. A rack also keeps pairs in weight order and off the floor, which is why every commercial gym racks its dumbbells.
