Description

A four-post cage is the only piece of equipment that lets you fail a heavy squat or bench press alone and walk away. Safety bars set below your working depth catch the barbell if the rep does not go, which is what makes serious solo training possible.

KEY FEATURES

  • Four-post cage with adjustable J-hooks and safety bars
  • Allows heavy solo squatting and benching without a spotter
  • Integrated pull-up bar for vertical pulling work
  • Multiple upright hole positions for precise height setting
  • Accepts a bench inside the cage for pressing
  • The structural anchor of a complete home gym

PRODUCT OVERVIEW

The safety bars are the entire point. Set them one or two inches below the bottom of your squat, and a failed rep results in the bar resting on steel rather than on your spine. The same applies to bench press, where the safety bars sit just above chest height and catch the bar if you cannot lock out. No other setup provides this, which is why a power rack is the correct purchase for anyone training heavy without a partner.

A rack also consolidates equipment. The integrated pull-up bar removes the need for a separate frame, the uprights store the barbell, and the cage provides fixed points for future attachments. Against that, it needs a permanent footprint and sufficient ceiling height, so it is a decision about space as much as about training.

TRAINING APPLICATION

Inside the cage you can run a complete strength programme: back squat, front squat, bench press, incline press, overhead press, rack pull, pin press and pull-ups. Setting safety bars at different heights also enables partial-range work such as pin squats and pin presses, which are effective tools for breaking through sticking points in a lift.

HOW TO CHOOSE?

Choose a power rack if you train alone, lift heavy, and have the permanent space and ceiling height. Choose adjustable squat stands if space is tight or the setup must be movable. Whichever you choose, budget for a bench, an Olympic 2" barbell, plates and collars, since a rack on its own does nothing. Measure your ceiling before ordering.

FAQs

Do I need to bolt the rack to the floor?

Check the manufacturer guidance on the page. Many racks are stable unanchored under normal use, but bolting down is advisable for very heavy loading or if you will be doing pull-ups.

What ceiling height does a power rack need?

Enough for the rack itself plus clearance to use the pull-up bar. Confirm the stated height on the page against your room before ordering.

Can I bench press alone in a power rack?

Yes, provided you set the safety bars just above chest height so a failed rep lands on steel rather than on you. This is the primary reason to own a cage.

Does it include a barbell or plates?

No. A rack is a frame. You will need an Olympic barbell, plates, collars and a bench to train in it.
