Training Accessories
Two small handles that fix the two things wrong with press-ups on the floor. Your wrists stay neutral instead of fully extended, and your chest travels below hand level, which is where the most useful part of the movement happens.
Wrist extension is the reason most people stop doing press-ups. A floor press-up puts the wrist at roughly ninety degrees under load, which is uncomfortable for anyone with limited wrist mobility or a history of injury. Handles keep the wrist neutral and in line with the forearm, which eliminates the problem entirely rather than working around it.
The range of motion gain is the second benefit and arguably the larger one. On the floor, the chest stops at hand level. Elevated on handles, it can descend below, which increases the stretch on the pectorals at the bottom of the movement. Training through a longer range is one of the better-supported ways to increase the effectiveness of any exercise.
Push up bars support standard press-ups, deficit press-ups, archer press-ups, planks and pike press-ups for the shoulders. The deeper range makes press-ups meaningfully harder, so expect your repetition count to drop initially. That reduction reflects greater work per repetition, not lost strength.
Choose push up bars if wrist discomfort limits your pressing, or if you want more from bodyweight training without equipment. Pair them with an adjustable weighted vest to keep press-ups progressive once high repetitions become easy. Use them on a non-slip surface, since handles on a polished floor can slide apart under load.
Do push up bars really help wrist pain?
For most people, yes. They keep the wrist neutral rather than fully extended, which removes the position that causes discomfort during floor press-ups.
Why are press-ups harder on bars?
Your chest travels below hand level, increasing the range of motion and the stretch on the pectorals. More work per repetition means fewer repetitions.
Will they slip on a smooth floor?
The bases are non-slip, but a polished floor is still worth avoiding. Use them on matting or carpet for the most secure position.
Can I use them for planks?
Yes, and it is a good option for anyone who finds forearm or wrist positions uncomfortable during long plank holds.
