Description

The most weight for your money, bought in one graded order. A complete cast iron set gives you every increment from change plates upward, with the thin profile that lets you keep loading long after rubber plates have run out of sleeve.

KEY FEATURES

  • Complete graded set of Olympic cast iron plates
  • Machined 2-inch bore for a clean fit on Olympic sleeves
  • Thin profile maximises total loadable weight per bar
  • Includes small change plates for precise progression
  • Best cost per kilogram of any plate format
  • Ideal for rack-based strength training

PRODUCT OVERVIEW

For rack-based strength training, a cast iron pro set is difficult to beat on value. There is no rubber, no urethane and no coating adding cost and thickness, just machined iron. That means both the lowest price per kilogram in the category and the greatest total weight you can physically fit on a barbell.

The graded structure matters as much as the total. Progress on a bench press or overhead press depends on being able to add 2.5kg to the bar, which requires 1.25kg change plates. Sets that jump straight from 5kg to 10kg pairs force increments too large to sustain, and are the most common reason home lifters stall on pressing movements.

TRAINING APPLICATION

This set is built for the squat rack and the bench: back squat, front squat, bench press, overhead press, bent-over row, rack pull and Romanian deadlift. It is not built for dropping. If your programme includes cleans, snatches or bailing from a failed rep onto the floor, you need bumper plates for at least the inner pair.

HOW TO CHOOSE?

Choose a cast iron pro set if you train inside a rack, want the best value per kilogram, and expect to load heavily over time. Choose tri-grip plates if handling and carrying comfort matter more than absolute density. Choose bumpers if the bar hits the floor. Pair the set with a weight tree or horizontal plate rack from day one, because loose plates on a floor are both a hazard and a rust risk.

FAQs

Why does a set need small change plates?

Because progression on pressing movements depends on 2.5kg total jumps, which requires 1.25kg pairs. Without them you are forced into 5kg or 10kg increases that stall quickly.

Can I mix cast iron with bumper plates?

Yes, and many home gyms do. Load bumpers innermost to set bar height, then cast iron outside them for additional weight.

Will bare cast iron rust?

It can in damp, unheated spaces. Store plates on a rack rather than a concrete floor and wipe them down if condensation is an issue.

Does the set include collars?

Check the variant details on the page. Collars are essential and should be added if not included.
