Description

There is a reason the air bike has an unpleasant reputation. Arms and legs work simultaneously against a fan whose resistance rises with your effort, which means the machine can always take more than you can give. For conditioning, that is exactly what you want.

KEY FEATURES

  • 27-inch fan providing unlimited scaling resistance
  • Dual-action arms and pedals engage the whole body
  • Zero joint impact despite very high intensity
  • Adjustable seat for correct leg extension
  • Console tracking calories, distance, time and intervals
  • Built for maximal-effort interval conditioning

PRODUCT OVERVIEW

The fan is the whole design. Because air resistance increases roughly with the square of fan speed, the harder you work the disproportionately harder it becomes. There is no resistance setting to max out, which is why air bikes are the standard tool for testing and building conditioning in athletic settings, and why a 30-second maximal effort is genuinely brutal.

Dual-action arms recruit the upper body simultaneously with the legs, engaging far more total muscle mass than a standard exercise bike. That larger active muscle mass is why the cardiovascular demand is so high at comparatively modest pedal speeds, and why the air bike produces higher heart rates than most other machines for the same perceived leg effort.

TRAINING APPLICATION

Air bikes excel at short maximal intervals: 10 to 30 second sprints with full recovery for anaerobic power, or 30 seconds on and 30 off for lactate tolerance. They also work well for steady low-intensity recovery riding, where the zero-impact nature makes them ideal on days after heavy squatting or deadlifting. Set seat height so the knee is slightly bent at full extension.

HOW TO CHOOSE?

Choose an air bike if conditioning intensity is the priority and you want zero joint impact. Choose a rower if you want a machine that also loads the posterior chain in a hinge pattern. Choose a ski trainer for upper-body-dominant work. Air bikes are noisy by nature, which is worth considering in a flat or shared building.

FAQs

Why is an air bike harder than a normal exercise bike?

Resistance rises sharply with fan speed and the arms work as well as the legs, so far more muscle mass is active and the machine never runs out of resistance.

Are air bikes loud?

Yes. The fan moves a lot of air at high effort. This is worth considering in flats, shared buildings or rooms adjoining bedrooms.

Is it suitable for beginners?

Yes. Resistance is entirely effort-dependent, so a gentle pedal is a gentle workout. The intensity is set by you, not the machine.

How should I set the seat height?

So your knee is slightly bent at the bottom of the pedal stroke. Too low causes knee discomfort, too high causes hip rocking.

  • Bulk Delivery — £69.99 per item. Applies to rowing machines, ski machines, exercise and air bikes, treadmills, power racks and other oversized equipment, which travel by specialist courier or pallet. Free and Express delivery are not available on these items.

If your basket contains a mix of items, each part is charged according to its own category — for example, a rowing machine plus a dumbbell set is charged £69.99 for the machine while the dumbbells still ship free. All applicable charges are shown at checkout before you pay.
